Sky Sorata was founded in 1986 by Peter Pruckner – originally under the name Aventura Ultimus, and known as Sky Sorata since 1997.
Peter, born on March 3rd, 1958, is a German-Austrian alpinist with over 40 years of mountain experience in the Alps and the Andes.

Since 1986, he has regularly traveled to Sorata and knows the Illampu and Ancohuma region better than almost any other foreign mountaineer.
During this time, he has led countless trekking tours, summit ascents, and traverses around Sorata.

Mountaineering Experience (Selection)

• The Nose on El Capitan, Yosemite (1978)

• First winter ascents in the Karwendel

• Difficult routes in the Wilder Kaiser (e.g., Pumprisse on the Fleischbank Pillar)

• Classic Dolomite routes (e.g., Philip–Flamm on the Civetta, Marmolada south face)

• North faces of the Western Alps (Droites, Grandes Jorasses)

• Huandoy Norte – North Face (1986, BC–summit–BC in approx. 55 h)

• Illampu traverse from valley to valley in 10 days

Collaboration with the Local Community

For almost 40 years, Peter has worked closely with local guides, families, and communities in Sorata.
