Our Mountain Programs
in the Northern Cordillera Real

The Northern Cordillera Real is one of the most beautiful and impressive regions of the entire Cordillera Real – and has, unjustly, been somewhat forgotten in recent years.

For us, it is the best mountain area in Bolivia: easy to reach, scenically exceptional, and ideal for demanding high-altitude mountaineers.

From La Paz / El Alto Airport, you can reach our base area in just three hours.

Sorata – the Perfect Base Camp

The town of Sorata lies at 2,700 m and offers a mild, subtropical climate – ideal for acclimatization and for relaxing days between tours.

Unlike starting directly from La Paz, here you begin in the warm zone and ascend through various climate zones up to the beautifully shaped six-thousanders.
There is hardly a more impressive way to adapt to altitude.

Upon arrival, you will be picked up directly at the airport and taken to Sorata – a major advantage for rest and acclimatization after the long flight.

La Paz and Lake Titicaca are visited at the end of your trip.

Our Main Objectives

Illampu (6,368 m)

  • one of the most demanding six-thousanders of the entire Andes

  • steep, technically challenging, highly prestigious

In addition, we offer various acclimatization peaks and smaller mountain tours in the surrounding area.
All programs include a detailed acclimatization schedule.

Ancohuma (6,427 m)

  • powerful, majestic mountain

  • technically less demanding

  • high-alpine, impressive ice and snow faces
